Missiongrip™ is On’s proprietary outsole technology for trail running and hiking shoes. It combines a specially formulated rubber compound with multi-directional lug patterns to provide high traction across technical and unpredictable surfaces.

The rubber compound used in Missiongrip™ is designed for stickiness and resilience. It maintains grip in wet, dry, warm or cold conditions and resists early wear on hard ground. Lug geometry is tuned to support both climbing and descending forces, with alternating patterns that dig into softer ground and stabilise on rocky paths.

This technology was developed in alpine environments and tested in high-performance trail scenarios. It complements On’s midsole systems by providing the control needed when traversing steep slopes or navigating uneven ground. Paired with CloudTec® and, in some models, Helion™ foam, it ensures that comfort is never sacrificed for grip.
