Speedboard® is a responsive plate embedded between the midsole and upper in many On running shoes. Its purpose is to capture the energy generated at landing and return it at toe-off, creating a faster, smoother transition through the stride.

Made from liquid-injected thermoplastic polymer, each Speedboard® is tuned for the intended use of the shoe. Some models use a firmer plate for race-day responsiveness, while others use more flexible constructions for daily training and comfort.

When a runner lands, the Speedboard® flexes slightly under pressure. As the foot rolls forward, the plate returns to its original shape, releasing stored energy and helping drive the next step. This adds mechanical efficiency without forcing an unnatural foot motion.

Speedboard® works together with CloudTec® to ensure the cushioning system absorbs impact before the plate returns the energy. Helion™ foam, layered above the plate in many models, adds lightweight support and temperature-resistant comfort.

Rather than using a single plate design across all models. On engineers each Speedboard® for its specific role from explosive propulsion to smooth, steady rhythm.
