Helion™ is On’s proprietary superfoam, developed to bring together comfort, energy return and structural resilience in a single midsole material. Introduced in 2019, it was designed to overcome the compromises typically found in running shoe cushioning systems.

Traditional foams often force a choice between softness and support, or between responsiveness and long-term durability. Helion™ eliminates that trade-off. Its unique molecular structure combines rigid and flexible elements along the same polymer chains. This allows the foam to compress when cushioning is needed and rebound quickly when energy return is required.

The performance of Helion™ remains stable in a wide range of temperatures. Whether in cold winter mornings or hot summer road sessions, the foam resists hardening or softening, keeping your stride consistent and supported.

In On shoes, Helion™ often works alongside CloudTec® cushioning pods and the Speedboard® plate to form an integrated system. This combination enables soft landings, explosive toe-offs and a smoother overall ride. The foam also maintains its structural integrity over time, reducing compression set and helping shoes last longer both in comfort and performance.
