Having a training partner is one of the best ways to keep you motivated and excited about staying fit and healthy. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a personal trainer, and not everyone has a training buddy whose schedule exactly matches theirs.

This app focuses on providing “trainer-led, music-driven audio workouts”, and this is exactly what you’ll get with Aaptiv. Select a workout of your choice based on a specific trainer, duration, type of workout and music genre. Your trainer will guide you through a warm-up, and will check in once every often during your workout to ensure you are maintaining the correct form and pace.

2. Motion Traxx

If you frequent the gym by yourself, Motion Traxx has all the motivation to make every session a productive one, no matter which of the machines you’re working out on. Motion Traxx also features trainers who guide you as you exercise, along with various workouts and playlists that are tailored to the intensity of your workout. More than 100,000 subscribers use this app, and it’s easy to see why.

3. Vi Trainer

The Vi app isn’t unlike the apps we’ve previously mentioned, but it does have one key difference: Vi uses AI, combined with bio-sensing headphones, to give you real-time feedback based on your exercise history, heart rate zones, speed and pace. Although this app requires the purchase of the Vi system, you probably won’t get any closer to having a personal trainer monitor you than this.

4. Nike+Run Club

This app displays all the key data that you need access to in order to push your running to the next level: the GPS route, distance, elevation, pace and heart rate all feature. This app features audio-guided runs by Nike coaches and elite athletes, and also recommends playlists based on specific workouts. As it easily integrates with streaming music services, you get to choose accompanying music that suits your taste.

5. Zombies, Run!

By far the most fun guided audio motivation app on this list, you’ll join more than a million other players in a, well, run for your life. With more than 200 missions featuring the main character – you ¬– you’ll be tasked with reaching one of humanity’s last remaining outposts, while trying to evade zombies that are hankering after your brain.
