The 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship is set to kick off in Nelson Mandela Bay on 1 and 2 September 2018. Over 6000 athletes from all over the world, who qualified for the event at more than 100 IRONMAN 70.3 events, will compete for the coveted title of IRONMAN World Champion.
The event, which is being held in the Friendly City for the first time, follows the IRONMAN African Championship, which was held in April 2018, and saw over 2000 athletes taking part.
The event officially started on Thursday, 30 August, with the Ndlovu 5K Fun Run and the Parade of Nations. The IRONKIDS ½ Mile and 1 Mile Fun Run for children aged 3 to 13 years took place on 31 August.
The main events take place on 1 and 2 September, with the top men and women IRONMAN athletes competing for the crown in a gruelling test of strength and grit.
