Introducing Tifosi’s Ambassadors: Wandisile Nongodlwana

Tifosi’s call for entries to become an ambassador for some of our brands was met with great enthusiasm and hundreds of applicants. Tifosi was thrilled to announce the final list of 29 ambassadors in April, and now it is our pleasure to introduce you to the guys and girls who represent Tifosi’s brands when they compete in numerous events across the country and abroad.

In this article, as a part of a series about our new ambassadors, we introduce Wandisile Nongodlwana.

What is your favourite sport?

Long distance road and trail running.

What do you love most about your choice of sport?

I get some “me time”, and a chance to connect with amazing people from all walks of life.

When did you start participating in this sport and what made you get into it?

I have always liked to gym, but I started running in 2007. A friend of mine dared me to compete in the Comrades Marathon. Before that, I used to run corporate relays or just hit the treadmill at the gym.

What is your favourite piece of Compressport apparel and why do you use it?

It is the Compressport R2V2 calf sleeve. Since I do a lot of long distances, it is light and helps to minimise fatigue and heaviness by reducing shock waves generated by running on hard ground, and reducing the oscillating movement of the muscles, thereby limiting risks of injury.

How do you stay motivated – especially during the winter and over holidays?

Mostly, it is the commitment I make and also the desire to achieve my goals. Some days are better than others. I feel that rest and recovery helps as well.

What advice would you give someone who has just started their fitness journey?

While you have bigger goals and ambitions, celebrate each and every step you take towards achieving that goal. If, for example, a goal is to run 5 kilometres: every time you take a step, celebrate that. Be consistent. Get into groups of people with similar goals. Do not put pressure on yourself, but stay motivated.
