Introducing Tifosi’s Ambassadors: Noel Young

Tifosi’s call for entries to become an ambassador for some of our brands was met with great enthusiasm and hundreds of applicants. Tifosi was thrilled to announce the final list of 29 ambassadors in April, and now it is our pleasure to introduce you to the guys and girls who represent Tifosi’s brands when they compete in numerous events across the country and abroad.

In this article, as a part of a series about our new ambassadors, we introduce Noel Young.

What is your favourite sport?

Running (road and trail).

What do you love most about your choice of sport?

Getting out of the rat race and being able to clear my mind – there’s nothing like a solo long run to sort out all your problems. I’ve also become a bit of a health nut in last few years, and running is one of the big components that contribute to living a healthy active lifestyle. And then, of course, the endorphins – my drug of choice.

When did you start participating in this sport and what made you get into it?

I started running in 2013. It was part of a shift in life choices for me. I stopped smoking, changed to a low-carb healthy lifestyle and I had made a career change into software development just a couple of years earlier. Running has since become a very big passion of mine.

What is your favourite piece of Compressport apparel and why do you use it?

My favourite Compressport is gear is, without a doubt, their calf sleeves. My calves have always been an area prone to stiffness and the cause of many bouts of shin splints, and even though I haven’t had shin splints in a very long time, I still hardly ever go for a run without them.

How do you stay motivated – especially during the winter and over holidays?

Having a goal is my best way to stay motivated. If I’m not working towards something specific, it’s very easy to just say: “I’ll skip today’s run – the rest will do me good…”. So, my running planning usually starts with a goal in mind and then, the more you work towards that goal, the harder it becomes to skimp on your workouts – even if it’s cold, raining or if you’re on holiday.

What advice would you give someone who has just started their fitness journey?

Consistency is key. Keep at it regularly, and soon it becomes a part of your lifestyle, rather than something extra you have to do.
Also, try to get involved where other people are embarking on the same fitness journey as you. If you run, join a running club and get involved. If you like the gym, join a Crossfit club. If you do triathlon, find a cycling or swimming group and join up on their training sessions. In the beginning, it will be hard, but it will be worth it!
