Hit one of these 7 trail running events if you’re in the Western Cape

The Western Cape province is famous for its wine, beaches and amazing sights. If you’re a trail runner, all these things can be a part of your next race.

Check out these 7 trail running events happening during the second half of 2017.

1. Table Mountain Challenge 2017

This mountain trail run is 43km long and is run clockwise around Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. The Table Mountain Challenge takes place on 3 September and entries close the Wednesday before the event.

2. La Capra Goat Run

Choose between 5km, 8km, 15km or 28km routes on the slopes of the Paarl Mountain. It is held at Fairview, so you can be sure there’ll be wine and cheese available when you’re done. The La Capra Goat Run is held on 9 September, and you can enter here.

3. Llands and Sands Run

Held in support of the Llandudno Surf Lifesaving Club, The Llands and Sands Run is in its second year. Choose between a 1km, 4km or 10km run that crosses tar, trails and beaches. Everything is happening on 9 September, and you can enter here.

4. Oyster Catcher 3-day Trail

This 3-day trail run comprises of a route stretching through the Gourikwa Nature Reserve, the Gourits River Mouth, Boggoms Bay, Dana Bay and Mossel Bay. The run takes place from 23 to 25 September, and entries close on 15 September, so bookmark this link.

5. Grabouw Mountain Challenge

This 2-day stage race through forests and over fynbos-covered mountains starts on 7 October. It promises thrills and amazing sights. Enter here.

6. Cederberg Night Marathon

This isn’t just a trail run – it’s an experience. Traverse the valleys and kloofs of the Cederberg from Algeria to Sanddrift via the Sneeuberg Hut. It’s happening on 14 and 15 October and you can enter here.

7. The Hills Challenge 2017

Entries for this trail running event, which takes place on 21 October in the beautiful town of Montagu, close on 19 October. Choose between 8km, 15km, or a Colour Run if you’re not as fit as you’d like to be. Enter here.
