Athlete training in their house - Tifosi Sports

Don’t like the gym? Here are 5 YouTube channels to check out.

Especially when first establishing a fitness routine, many people are wary of joining traditional gyms. Reasons for not preferring the gym vary, ranging from unaffordable gym fees to simply feeling intimidated by the many in-shape people hopping effortlessly from one circuit to the next.

Whatever your reason for not being fond of the gym, YouTube offers a wealth of channels that bring the gym to your home – and they’re all free. These five fitness channels on YouTube are definitely worth checking out.

1. POPSUGAR Fitness

Specialising in just about any type of workout you can think of, the exercise routines on POPSUGAR Fitness have been divided into categories that will help you tailor your exercise according to target areas, fitness level and type of exercise, among many others.

2. Yoga with Adriene

Precious few instructors are quite as chilled out as Adriene is, and her yoga sessions are fresh, relatable and attainable, even for beginners. Whether you’re looking for a yoga session aimed at calming the mind, strengthening the body or losing weight, you’ll find it here, together with a range of other sessions you never thought you needed – like yoga for a hangover.

3. FitnessBlender

FitnessBlender is great if you have a limited amount of time available to get your workout on. Husband and wife team Daniel and Kelli’s channel features more than 500 workouts, and you can choose sessions that fit into your routine. Even if you just have five minutes a day, you’ll find something worthwhile on FitnessBlender.

4. NateBowerFitness

Interested in giving boxing a shot, but unsure if this high-energy form of exercise is for you? Nate Bower is a competitive athlete and certified boxing trainer, and the home boxing workouts on his channels are a great way to get acquainted with the sport. Before you know it, the gloves will be coming off, and you’ll be fitter than ever before.

5. The Fitness Marshall

Not everyone is a fan of traditional exercise, and Caleb Marshall’s dancing routines are a welcome change – and they’re simple enough to follow along with, even if you have two left feet. Marshall combines upbeat pop songs with dance routines that are sure to have you breaking a sweat (and losing weight and getting stronger) in no time.
