On Ambassadors 2020: Donne GreenThe Social Media Company
After receiving and sifting through hundreds of applications from athletes all over South Africa, it is our pleasure to introduce you to 2020’s On Ambassadors!
This year’s applications far exceeded our expectations, both in quantity and quality, and although we can only choose a certain amount of people to represent On at events in 2020, we are already looking forward to your applications in 2021. If this year’s entrants are any indication, we are excited to see what the amateur and professional sporting world will dish up in the future.
We are honoured to introduce you to 2020 On Ambassador, Donne Green.
Please tell us about your favourite type of sport? How / when did you start doing this sporting / fitness activity?
My favorite sport is triathlon. I have been doing triathlons for three years.
How have triathlons changed your life?
Triathlons have changed my life in so many ways. We as family live a healthier lifestyle. I am definitely more confident – getting outside of my comfort zones excites me – and I feel like I can accomplish almost anything. Additionally, training and racing has made me a better wife and mother.
What advice do you have for people who are just starting out with a new fitness routine?
My advice would be that consistency is key – never give up, even when you mind wants to. The feeling of finishing a tough training session or a triathlon is very rewarding.
How important is having quality footwear when training?
Triathlon running shoes are one of the key items of triathlon gear. They can make a real difference to your run in terms of comfort, and whether you get injured or not.
Do you prefer to train alone or with other people?
I would love to train with other people, but as a wife and mom of three, at this stage I prefer to train alone, as I need to fit in my training around my family, which doesn’t always suit the average person.
What race or event are you most looking forward to this year?
I am looking forward to the Sun City Ultra on the 3rd of May.
What is your sporting motto?
My mottos are “what you put in is what you get out”, and “consistency is key”.
